LCFC OWSL Women’s team places 2nd in league!!!
In 2006 the LCFC entered their first Open-Aged Women’s Team
in the Ontario Women’s Soccer League. Being a new team with
no previous experience in the league, along with having
players who had not played together previously, it was sure
to be an interesting season.
At the start of the season, we only had 11 players signed
and the outlook was bleak. However, with team training
being led by the coach, Gord Lever, the girls quickly got
into shape and were eager to begin their season on the
soccer pitch.
As it turns out, the team was quite talented and the players
quickly meshed together. They worked hard, had fun, and
above all played soccer with all of their hearts. There was
a great sense of team comraderie and cohesiveness which is
rare to find on most women’s teams today.
The team played extremely well and met every challenge with
determination. They played a number of competitive teams
from across Southern Ontario. They finished second in their
division, which speaks volumes for the coach and players’
abilities. The women were proud of their accomplishments
and hope to continue to perform well in the league again
next season.
Thanks to Gord Lever for believing in the female soccer
players of Kingston and for persevering through the
challenges presented due to being a new team in the OWSL.
