A disappointing 0-2 loss to Roots Ethio on Aug 6 at the Ottawa U turf field, when failure to finish, plus no subs on a baking hot day saw the team concede two goals in the last 10 minutes.
This was followed by a strong performance on Aug 13 away to Ottawa Impact, who were unbeaten in 4 games. Despite only having 11 players (yet again) and Tom Cawthorn not fully fit, the team responded with a 2-0 win, thanks to goals from Trevor Lewis and Neil Hazelton and another shut-out from Dustin Kemp.
Sadly, Trevor now returns to Mcgill for training camp so misses our final 2 games, when 2 wins may yet be enough for promotion!

Despite a lengthening injury list, the team has stayed in contention in the OCSL MC2 Division and a strong late season run can still put us in one of the two promotion places for MC1. Currently third out of 10 teams, we were on a nice run with a win over Ottawa Ethio and draws with Prescott (who are in 2nd place) and St. Stefan (in 1st), the latter despite travelling with only 10 players. However last Sunday a trip to Gloucester resulted in a 1-2 loss, which is a major setback.
Now the team faces a crucial weekend with a home game July 29th at Frontenac v Fitzroy Harbour, then an away game July 30th v Nepean Hotspurs. We will then be into our final 4 games, hopefully with everything to play for!

The Senior Men could not have picked a more daunting game to make their debut as a team – no less than an Ontario Cup game against Ottawa St. Anthony’s, the 2005 Ottawa Carleton Soccer League (OCSL) Men’s Premier Champions, albeit a home game played at Ernestown!
Despite having only one exhibition game prior, and being able to field just 12 players for the game, LCFC produced a solid, committed effort and gave St. Anthony’s plenty of problems, before conceding a goal in the 76th minute and going down 0-1.
Team: Dustin Kemp (GK), Jay Barbosa, Rick Popazzi (Capt.), Tom Cawthorn, Mike Cook, Trevor Lewis, Jared King, Steve Douglas, Nelson Cabral, Steve Murano, Mark Stanley & Henk Kuchlein
These players deserve a lot of credit for pushing St. Anthony’s to the limit.
Hopefully, this performance will encourage more players to sign up for the team as they start their league campaign in the OCSL Div MC2, with games June 3 (home) v Gloucester and June 4 (away) v Fitzroy Harbour.

In addition to the league, we plan to enter the Ottawa Cup (for all OCSL competitive teams) and possibly the Ontario Cup. The latter decision will depend on the quality and commitment of the players who are interested in making the move up to this level of play. As a Club we are committed to building a strong ‘competitive’ program for both men and women – so this is just the start!
The OCSL season starts mid May and runs to end of September. Our games will be played on weekends, mostly Sunday afternoon. However, there are likely to be a few weekends where we play both days. To address this, we will need a squad of 18-20 players, although we will also have the possibility of drawing on our U21 and GKSSA players when necessary.
NB: there is no conflict with playing on a GKSSA team (classified as ‘recreational’) and playing on a ‘competitive’ team.
Registration will likely be in the range of $250 per player (depending on sponsor support), with an initial fee of $150 and a balance to follow prior to the first game.
An initial meeting/work out is being planned for Saturday March 18, at Frontenac Secondary School. Any players interested in attending or in being a part of this team should contact me asap.
